Duties

  • This position will provide administrative and husbandry support the WRAIR/NMRC research staff and orchestrate effective liaison between the WRAIR/NMRC staff.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Collect, complike and compute data for financial reports.
  • Work involves planning for and purchasing of special equipment, supplies and materials needed to support Animal Care and Use Programs.

WRAIR is participating in an alternative personnel system known as the Personnel Demonstration Project (PDP). The DJ-03 pay band is equivalent to the GS-11 step 01 to GS-12 step 10 level. In keeping with the Demonstration pay fixing policies, employees earning a salary that falls within this pay band equivalent, will not receive an immediate pay increase (promotion) if appointed to this position. Future pay increases within the pay band will be accomplished through the pay for performance management system.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Purchasing special equipment and supplies in support of animal care and use programs; (2) Providing administrative and husbandry support to research staff; (3) Preparing financial reports using an automated accounting system such as General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS); and (4) Ensuring Animal Program Management and Animal Care and Use Regulatory Requirements are maintained. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DJ-02 (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
