Locations:Richmond, VAWaldorf, MDCrofton, MDWe are seeking Mechanic Helpers to join our team at multiple locations in Maryland and Virginia to assist with the inspection and repair of our fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment in accordance with company standards.The Mechanic Helper will:Assist with routine inspections, preventive maintenance and service on automotive vehicles (such as trucks, tractor-trailers, pickups, cars, heavy equipment, and mounted equipment such as mixers and hydraulic systems) and stationary equipment (such as air compressors, welding equipment, and miscellaneous equipment).Assist mechanics in the maintenance and repair of automotive vehicles, heavy equipment, mounted equipment, stationary equipment, etc.Complete all required reports and paperwork accurately and on time.Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe manner at ALL times; wear all required safety equipment; follow all safety guidelines; perform all required safety inspections; notify the Shop Manager or Safety Director immediately of any potential or current safety problems.Follow all environmental regulations; dispose of chemicals, trash, etc. in designated areas; recycle when required; notify the Shop Manager or Safety Director immediately of any potential or current environmental problems.Keep the shop area and all tools, shop vehicles, and equipment neat, clean, and in good repair; clean work area at the end of every work shift; maintain security of all company equipment and tools at all times and notify the Shop Manager of any problems.Maintain a neat and clean appearance; wear proper uniform if required.Drive repaired or broken equipment when necessary.Drive maintenance vehicle to various plant sites.Perform any miscellaneous duties requested by the Shop Manager which may include, but is not limited to, cleaning up around the plant, picking up equipment or supplies, transporting company mail, training another employee, and filling in for an absent employee.Perform other duties as assigned.The following requirements are essential to this job:Must have a high school education or equivalent.Must have basic knowledge of the components and mechanics of trucks, tractor trailers, pickups, cars, heavy equipment, mounted equipment, shop equipment.Must have a good driving record.Must be able to pass a DOT physical.Must be able to climb up to 15 feet on top of mixer and dump trucks and other heavy equipment.Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds several times a day to install components on equipment.Must be able to lay on back to work under a vehicle on a creeper.Must be able to work in outside weather conditions all year round.Must be able to push and pull equipment such as wheel dolly jacks, cherry pickers, transmission jacks and jacks for lifting trucks.Must have basic computer skills and be able to complete basic paperwork.
