The Virginia Lottery is seeking a weekend hourly Sales Merchandiser for the Alexandria Sales Area including Herndon, Springfield, Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church and McLean. The weekend Sales Merchandiser's main responsibility will be supporting sales by filling and maintaining Lottery vending machines. Weekly schedule will be maintained by working Friday afternoons, full days Saturday and Sunday, and Monday morning. Other duties may include assisting "special" distribution projects, weekend events and other various tasks as assigned. Work closely with the Area Manager and Sales Representatives to accomplish the sales and distribution goals of the Area.This is an hourly position without benefits. Less than 30 hours per week, but may vary based on business need. Weekend work is required. Additionally, a state vehicle is provided including gas.Minimum QualificationsMust be able to work independently with low levels of supervision. Possess strong interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills and time management skills; present a professional and engaging personality; good math skills and ability to work with large sums of money. On occasion, may be required to work a 12 hour day, be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs., and use common household tools. Travel and weekend work required. The successful candidate must be willing to travel within a wide radius of the Alexandria sales area.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of field sales, consumer package goods industry, and experience working in the convenience store, mass merchandiser and/or grocery environment preferred. A 4-year degree or comparable field experience preferred.Special RequirementsThe selected candidate will be required to complete a background investigation and possess a valid Driver's License.The Commonwealth of Virginia requires all Lottery employees, including new hires to disclose their vaccination status upon hire.
