Job DescriptionThe Analytical Services Center is at the heart of analytical chemistry for W. R. Grace. The lab handles over 7,000 tests per week across 4 product lines and a customer profile spanning the entire globe. The team of 40 works with instrumentation and methods that push the boundaries of efficiency and quality all with a strong, diligent focus to safety. This exciting opportunity affords individuals the ability to learn and work cross functionally with Research & Development, Grace Manufacturing teams and our customers. R. Grace!Duties and Responsibilities include:Performing chemical analyses and scientific tests with priority on safety. Job provides great learning experience around lab safety. Focus and priority is on Critical Life Safety policiesLearn about new analytical instruments and methods used for analyzing various materials made in a high paced manufacturing environment. Understand the use of the materials and drive improvements in quality, efficiency and safety while conducting the analysesBuild experience in documenting experimental results, organizing data and utilizing software tools including Microsoft tools and Minitab for analyzing and reporting on instrument capabilities and method improvementsEstablish mechanical acumen working with high precision laboratory equipment including maintaining and repairing the instrumentsReview and respond directly to customer queries about sample status and methodsAllow the creative juices to flow with continuous improvement mindset and relentless focus on operational excellenceParticipate and support in internal and external audits as necessaryPerforms all other duties and assumes other responsibilities, as requiredRequired SkillsStrong safety focusThe ideal candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills with knowledge in basic advanced chemistry, math, and computersFamiliarity with computer programs such as MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Minitab. Self-direction and the ability to work according to priorities are necessaryStrong written and oral communications skills along with computer experience are importantHas basic intermediate skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational processRequired ExperienceB.S. or higher in Chemistry or related scientific fieldsAbility to work different shiftsPreferred QualificationsPrior experience in laboratory environment preferred but not requiredFamiliarity with a production manufacturing environment#WRGRACEGrace is not accepting unsolicited assistance from search firms for this employment opportunity.
