This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Finance/CFO.The Director, Patient Financial Services is responsible for planning, implementing and maintaining all functions pertinent to the Patient Financial Services areas. Uses revenue cycle metrics and data to direct the work of the Patient Financial Services team on prioritization; provider and payer requirements for timely billing; compliant claim submission; and expected reimbursement. Identifies and executes strategic and tactical initiatives and plans to ensure compliant, timely and accurate reimbursement.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIESProvide leadership and direction to optimize the patient account flow and reimbursement.Develop and implement policies, procedures, objectives and goals for team leads and associates.Manage accounts receivables and incorporate strategies to increase collections.Develop strategy to minimize bad debt, including appropriate placement of accounts with legal counsel.Works with other departments to streamline procedures to ensure correct billing to residents and payers.Continuously evaluate technology and efficiencies related to departmental operations.Manage claims to third party payers, ensuring adequate systems to facilitate processing and complete payment of claims on a timely basis.Maintain current knowledge of billing regulations to assure adherence to state and federal compliance and regulatory requirements.Identify and address resident reimbursement issues; resolve Medicaid eligibility and/or billing-related issues.Ensure timely and accurate research and resolution of all resident credit balances.Directly oversee the Medicaid eligibility program and maintains knowledge of state of Maryland Medicaid eligibility requirements and process.Establish and maintain control for all cash collected and posted in the patient accounting system.Select, train, and develop department staff.EDUCATION & TRAININGBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or Health Care Administration.Minimum of 5 years of experience managing patient financial services in a complex healthcare environment.Or equivalent combination of education and experience.Knowledge of healthcare billing, reimbursement, collection, and third-party payer regulations.Knowledge of regulations related to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance.Knowledge of state of Maryland Medicaid application and eligibility process.Knowledge of HIPAA.Skill in writing policies and procedures.Skill in using healthcare software and computer systems; PointClickCare system is preferred.Ability to communicate professionally with clinicians, administrative staff, contractors, governmental agencies, insurance payers, patients, family members of patients, suppliers, and the general public, of all age levels.Ability to lead and inspire others, create a work environment that is conducive to productivity and goal attainment and possess strong analytical, interpersonal, problem solving, customer service and communication skills; be self-motivated and have a sound work ethic.Proficient in EXCEL, Word and PowerPoint in a Windows environment.THANKSThanks for your interest in joining CESLC and the team in our Finance Department!#LI-MB1
