Pharmacy Technician I
General Summary of Position:Assists the Pharmacist in preparing and distributing medications to patients. Performs designated technical functions to facilitate pharmacy operations.Education:High school degree or GED diploma is required. Requires ability to read and write, knowledge of grammar, medical terminology, and proficiency in basic mathematics, including fractions and decimals, and keyboard skills. May require the use of standard office/medical equipment (ie, typewriter, personal computer, data terminal, on-line printer, calculator, telephone, facsimile, copier, and sterilizing equipment); the preparation, comparison, or checking of reports, records, and related data; and the basic use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings and knowledge of their application.Experience:At least six months of retail or hospital experience or a diploma from an approved pharmacy technician training program.Certification/Registration/Licensure:Pharmacy Technician certification and DC Department of Health (DOH) registration are required.About MedStar HealthMedStar Health is dedicated to providing the highest quality care for people in Maryland and the Washington, DC, region, while advancing the practice of medicine through education, innovation and research.
