S/he will work in an exciting/stimulating environment across the different stages of preclinical drug discovery. The candidate will be strongly motivated and dedicated, will show initiative and work independently. Troubleshooting skills are essential. S/he will demonstrate urgency, be organized, have the ability to work well in a team setting, show leadership and be sensitive to timelines. The scientist will effectively and frequently collaborate with colleagues in the OV team and in the Oncology department, as well as present scientific results to multidisciplinary teams.In This Role, You WillEvaluate efficacy of oncolytic virus candidates and/or other therapeutics approaches by executing in vitro assays, ex vivo cell-based assays, and syngeneic in vivo tumor models. Conduct pre-clinical efficacy/tolerability studies and must be proficient in implanting tumors into mice, treating tumors locally by intratumoral injections, and systemically by intravenous, subcutaneous and intraperitoneal administration of agents. Perform caliper measurements of tumors.Obtain specimens from pre-clinical mouse models to conduct immunological analyses for collaborative projects. Provide high quality data in a timely fashion, including drafting and executing technical reports. Design, perform, interpret, troubleshoot, and report complex data.Manage multiple experiments/projects simultaneously.Contribute on various projects outside of his/her own and collaborate with stakeholders from all relevant functions.Keep up to date with the literature related to his/her field. Act as an expert resource in his/her scientific field and in related disciplines.Clear and professional verbal and written communication with excellent presentation skills.QualificationsBachelor's/Master's Degree in Biological Sciences with a minimum of 6+ years of related experience or a recent PhD with 3+ years (post-PhD) research experience in pre-clinical animal model development in tumor biology is required.Significant research experience with mouse models of cancer is required.Experience with oncolytic viruses and animal models is preferred.Virology experience is preferred.Experience with intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, intradermal, and intravenous administration in mice is required (intra-tumoral administration is a plus). Knowledge and understanding of IACUC guidelines is required.Experience in animal database software (ie StudyLog) and being able to graph data in GraphPad Prism is a plus.Experience and knowledge of working in a BSL-2 laboratory environment is required.Experience in the cancer field is preferred.Experience in the immunology field is a plus.Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment is required.This role is based in Rockville, MD.
