Requisition ID: req21009Job Title: Community Engagement Officer, APASector: Community DevelopmentEmployment Category: Fixed TermEmployment Type: Full-TimeOpen to Expatriates: NoLocation: Washington DC, USAJob DescriptionJob Overview The Community Engagement Officer, Afghan Parolee Assistance (APA) Program will support IRC efforts in the Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration (RAI) department for national and local office community engagement activities to support implementation of the APA program. This includes development, maintenance, and mobilization of public and private partnerships. Strong and proactive community engagement is a key component of the success of the US refugee resettlement program (USRAP), as well as the Afghan Parolee Assistance (APA) program. There is currently a high level of interest and need for stakeholder engagement and partnership development for the APA program. The Officer will play key a function in supporting IRC program offices to build partnerships across the community, and to cultivate national partnerships to support program offices, in order to better support APA clients as they integrate into their new communities and support the communities that welcome them. Major Responsibilities * Support IRC program offices to create and implement community engagement plans for the APA program, including identifying key stakeholders to engage and developing outreach strategies * Create tools, fact sheets, presentations, and templates to support community outreach and response related to the APA program * Support IRC program offices meet required quarterly consultations requirements for the APA program * Deliver briefings and presentations to national and local stakeholders and partners, and support staff and leadership for briefings and presentations * In coordination with IRC stakeholders, engage with identified private and public partners who are interested in supporting the APA program * Cultivate partnerships to support the local needs of IRC program offices, including to identify and cultivate housing solutions * Liaise with federal and coalition partners about community engagement activities and partnerships * Conduct direct outreach in new areas where IRC will be supporting APA clients * Provide community engagement technical assistance to support the efforts of local partners and community sponsors providing direct services to APA clients in the case of remote service provision * Monitor and report on APA community engagement activities * Assist with ongoing training and support of office staff and leadership engaged in APA community engagement activities Job Qualifications: Education: * Bachelor's degree required Work Experience: * Minimum three years' work experience in relevant roles * Experience in community engagement, government relations, partnership development, and/or external affairs Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: * Experience building and maintaining relationships and cultivating partnerships * Experience designing and/or delivering trainings * Ability to develop practical strategies and willingness to provide hands-on support * High level Microsoft Office skills. Basic visual design skills (PowerPoint, infographics, Publisher, etc.) a plus. * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Experience working with refugees, immigrants, or migrants * Highly organized self-starter with demonstrated problem-solving, project management and follow-through ability, and proven success in managing multiple and diverse priorities * Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a fast-paced environment, within and across departments/functions, managing multiple priorities and develop positive relationships with locally and remote based staff * Strong attention to detail * Creativity thinking through new ideas and approaches Working Environment: Flexibility for either remote or in-office working arrangements. Position requires some flexibility to participate in meetings or calls outside of regular working hours when needed. Occasional travel to other IRC locations may be required.
