Duties

  • Coordinate meetings to discuss compliance, regulations, and administration policy.
  • Organize administrative operations of all congressional visits to Arlington National Cemetery (ANC).
  • Oversee post-hearing action processes.
  • Interpret program planning guidance in the missions of the Agency in response to Congressional queries.
  • Manage ongoing correspondence covering diverse functional areas to completion.
  • Assist leadership in the strategic development of ANC and ANMC programs.
  • Communicate inquiry processes to ANC staff on SACO (Staff Action Control Office) actions.
  • Interpret guidelines to produce timely internal Congressional communications.
  • Manage complex issues that affect the organizational structure and functionality of Agency staff.
  • Interact with committees to coordinate inquiry responses, engagement plans, and legislative movement through committees.
  • Advise leadership by assisting the action officer with the drafting of proposals and business case analysis.
  • Research of position papers on congressional and legislative actions of importance to the Agency.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience GS-13 : One year of specialized experience which includes performing full range of congressional inquiry work including staffing, research, analysis and formulation of official responses to written and telephonic requests; managing multiple time sensitive and complex tasks; coordinating strategic engagements for senior leaders with Members of Congress; and monitoring legislative budget cycle, reporting on changes that may impact agency. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Specialized Experience GS-12 : One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating congressional inquiries; writing official responses for requests; managing multiple tasks; and coordinating meetings for senior leaders with Members of Congress. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement : Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11/12).
