Duties

As an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, WG-2610-12, you will perform the below duties:
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multi-complex electronic integrated systems.
  • Reviews and analyzes maintenance data; determines if criteria are sufficient to provide adequate test, troubleshooting and repair procedures; devises and recommends tests, procedural changes, or data corrections.
  • Troubleshoots operational malfunctions and analyzes system performance utilizing aircrew debrief data, Technical Orders, schematic and wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, data analysis, common and system-specific test equipment and built in system tests.
  • Recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and software malfunctions, initiates material deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data, and assists in design changes as necessary.
  • May upload and download chaff/flare dispensers. This hazardous task may involve the inspection, storage and handling of explosive devices; to include flares, chaff, impulse cartridges and similar items.
  • May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire-fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, serve as a security guard, remove snow, load and handle munitions, launch/recover and service aircraft, operate heavy equipment, maintain facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Complies with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 no later than 22 November 2021. Per Centers for Disease Control, you are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the final dose in your vaccination series.
  • You must provide proof of vaccination, or an approved medical/religious exemption (or application) at orientation.


Qualifications

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E3/A1C - E5/SSgt) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Air National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Air National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E3/A1C - E5/SSgt), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.

Military Grades: Enlisted Personnel (E3/A1C - E5/SSgt)

GENERAL EXPERIENCE :
  • Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Skilled in duties such as, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes
  • Ability to format and write English in reports and presentation formats
  • Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings
  • Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting material
  • Skilled in training, mentoring, leading, and problem-solving


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : t least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WG-12 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government? This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WG grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
  • Knowledge and skills to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems
  • Experiences including the ability and skills to perform on-or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on systems such as, automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems
  • Experience in performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multi-complex electronic integrated systems
  • Compatible aircraft maintenance/armament/munitions craftsman experience.
