Duties

  • You will organize and meet deadlines and demonstrate an ability to apply new methods for continuous improvement.
  • You will implement strategies and procedures to plan and carry out all necessary repair work.
  • You will perform supervisory functions which include administering and scheduling leave, interviewing candidates for vacancies, rating performance of subordinates.
  • You will resolve complaints, recommend disciplinary actions and ensure various command policies.

  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle driver's license and may be required to use a privately owned vehicle reimbursable under the Joint Travel Regulations.
  • Occasionally required to travel to industrial sites and make ship visits Conus and Oconus.
  • This position is eligible for full time telework. Your pay will depend on your geographic location.
  • This is an Essential position.


Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) applying engineering concepts, principles, methods, techniques, and practices applicable to a full range of marine engineering duties (i.e.; maintenance, overhaul, and modifications of hips including hull, mechanical/electrical, combat systems, contracts).
  • Interpreting requirements of ships operations and ships system operations in regards to the environmental and mission requirements of the Navy.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of management approaches in terms of cost and mission accomplishment.
  • Interpreting contracting methods and procedures and managing budgets and financials.
  • Expert with production capabilities and repair processes of both private and public shipyards to include advanced planning concepts for maintenance availabilities.
  • Performed all supervisory functions, to include, but not limited to administration of leave, interviewing for vacancies, rating performance of subordinates, recommending personnel actions and ensuring EEO policies are carried out.
