Duties

  • Serves as a Team Lead and is responsible for the development and execution of highly specialized and complex projects relating to management of the Military Health System official public websites (health.mil and TRICARE.mil).
  • Develops long and short term communications strategies and tactics for communicating through digital platforms.
  • Serves as the ultimate authority on matters regarding the management of the enterprise public websites.
  • Ensures that the organizations strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the teams strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has been designated as key and mission essential; in the event of weather related emergency, or other local/national emergency the incumbent may be required to report for duty or stay on duty until relieved by proper authority.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Lead Web Communications Specialist, GS-0301-14

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing agency level official public websites; AND leading a team in delivering communications, marketing, or public affairs products for a national audience; AND developing digital communications strategies to expand/enhance the audience reach. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
