We have an opportunity for a LPN to work as a Floater responding to emergencies between all Smithsonian Institutions on and around the Mall, administering Covid 19 tests to staff, and administering flu shots to staff. M-F, 7:30am-4:30pm, and it is a long-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who likes physical activity while being able to use his/her nursing skills.

  • Triage patients in the clinic or at various sites on & around the Mall (falls, heat exhaustion, dehydration, or other chronic issues)
  • Identify normal and abnormal patient conditions.
  • Implement nursing orders and interventions for patients within the clinic or at various locations.
  • Provide treatments and medications as applicable for patients.
  • Work closely with Registered Nurses to provide treatment to patients.
  • Provide education on health and disease management to patients and families.
  • Input patient's data into electronic medical records.

Please note this position will carry a backpack with 20lbs of supplies and walk to a clinic within one of the Smithsonian Museums or to an outside location.

Job Requirements

  • Unencumbered DC LPN License
  • Proof of Covid 19 Vaccinations
  • Current CPR Card
  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray
  • Current Immunizations (Varicella, MMR, HepB, TDAP, Flu Shot)
  • Experience floating to various sites
  • Ability to lift 20lbs
  • Comfortable walking, standing, and bending
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation and drug testing
