Associate Director, Center for the Middle East and International LawThe Center for the Middle East and International Law, a new academic center at George Mason University School of Law, is looking for an Associate Director to build out its programming and content and supervise its operations. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position:Responsibilities include day-to-day administration of the Center; leading and developing educational programs for students and outside constituencies (lawyers, media, policymakers); devising topics and recruiting speakers for seminars and conferences; engaging in scholarly writing and supervising scholarly writing of others. The associate director will also assist the executive director with research or other projects as needed. Required Qualifications: Considerable relevant work experience (typically 3+ years) in think tanks or policy positions, with some experience ( 1 year) focused on Middle East issues;Experience working in an academic/research center;JD/PHD or expected by end current academic year;Extensive prior knowledge of Center's subject matter and relevant legal/scholarly issues;Extensive writing skills with proven competence at rapidly producing publishable materials; Experience with media/PR issues;Direct experience in planning and executing events;Demonstrated ability to coordinate simultaneous projects;Excellent organizational and communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to quickly adapt to change; andAvailability for evening and weekend events as necessary. Preferred Qualifications:Experience in government policy position (legislative/executive); Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office programs; Web page design with WordPress; Conducting and troubleshooting Zoom seminars; andExtensive experience with social media platforms.
