Sr. Event Assistant/Audiovisual Coordinator The Arlington Campus Events Management office is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person for a part-time Sr. Event Assistant/AV Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for A/V technical setup and support for events held in the Van Metre Hall building on George Mason University's Arlington Campus. The emphasis of this position is to coordinate and operate A/V needs, assist in set-ups for conferences, meetings, and events and to provide excellent customer service to all clients during their event. The Sr. Event Assistant/AV Coordinator reports to the Arlington Campus Senior Event Manager. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Assist the Audio-Visual Manager by having excellent working knowledge of all AV systems in Van Metre Hall event venues;Respond to and troubleshoot technical issues and provide user support during an event when required;Verify that all equipment requested for events is set in the exact manner as described on the set-up report (unless otherwise directed) - this will involve the setting of tables and chairs and audio-visual equipment in accordance with reservation requests;Maintain order in all storerooms and ensure that aisles and mechanical equipment areas are kept clear of equipment;Performing event area walk-through according to the event schedule;Assist Event Manager(s) with their program needs while enforcing User Responsibilities of GMU-Arlington;Identify maintenance discrepancies and/or damages within event space and forward them to Event Manager;Interact with clients prior to event start time to ensure setup requirements are accurate and check in with client periodically throughout event;Interact with Catering, Housekeeping, Facilities, and the Information Desk when necessary; andOther duties as assigned by Events Management Staff.Required Qualifications:Must be a high school graduate or equivalent;Possess outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently with a diverse audience, including current university faculty and staff, alumni, donors, students, and the community;Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends;Must be able to safely and independently move items up to 50 pounds;Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; andPossess strong customer service, time management and organizational skills with high attention to detail.Preferred Qualifications:Some experience working in an Audio/Visual tech support capacity;Familiarity with higher education; andWorking knowledge of all aspects of audio and multimedia applications, visual/audio hardware configuration, conference A/V set-ups, and knowledge of electronics used to support events.
