Graduate Student Services CoordinatorThe George Mason University School of Systems Biology (SSB), within the College of Science (COS), invites applications for a full-time, Graduate Student Services Coordinator position. Responsibilities:The Graduate Student Services Coordinator (GSSC) will support all academic programs by serving as the point of contact, disseminating information, and address incoming communications for all programs. The successful candidate will assist with academic advising and guidance from admissions through graduation. The success candidate will work effectively with students, faculty, and colleagues; be familiar with student services; adhere to all university procedures and policies; disseminate information and respond to applicants, students, and faculty inquiries; maintain confidential student database and files; effectively communicate up to date program information; assist with academic advising; create reports; schedule all graduate courses online; work collaboratively with various university departments and offices; participate in university, college and departmental events; and work on various projects within the department. The incumbent will be part of the administrative team that works closely together to further the mission of the university. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; Knowledge of graduate programs and policies;Detailed oriented and ability to multitask;Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal;Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse community;Proficient experience with Microsoft office and email applications;Ability to effectively use student advising software applications and university administrative systems;Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with constituents;Experience working in a higher education environment; andAbility to operate independently and as a team member. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Ellucian Banner, MicroStrategy, Salesforce Target X, Zoom; andKnowledge and experience with George Mason University procedures, policies and regulations. About the Department: The School of Systems Biology has 21 faculty members with the wide-ranging interests in microbial infectious diseases, molecular biology and bioinformatics. The school also has a diverse research-funding portfolio provided by Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation, other government and non-profit agencies, and private industry. Currently, SSB houses several graduate programs, including Ph.D. in Biosciences, Ph.D. in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, M.S. in Biology, M.S. in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, and several graduate certificate programs. The Ph.D. and M.S. programs have concentrations in MID, among others. SSB faculty have close collaborations with researchers from a number of local and regional institutions, including the United States Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), NIH, Food and Drug Administration, Naval Research Laboratory, and Inova Health System among others.
