Business Intelligence Report Developer

George Mason University, Information Technology Services (ITS) - located on the Fairfax, Va., campus-invites applications for a Business Intelligence Report Developer position within the Enterprise Applications, Business Intelligence Services team. Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for developing complex reports, modifying existing reports and providing technical support to University report writers. Additionally, this position will assist the data mart team in functional and performance testing strategies for new and existing reports. The BI Report Developer will also develop training material and conduct training sessions for users of the various University data marts and reports. This individual must have significant working knowledge of SQL, preferably with Oracle databases, knowledge of data warehouse architecture, and experience with business intelligence reporting tools including MicroStrategy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates significant working knowledge of SQL queries;
  • Experience developing reports in a Business Intelligence tool or a reporting tool, such as MicroStrategy, Power BI, Cognos, Crystal Reports or Microsoft Access;
  • Excellent communication skills for supporting both functional area users and ITS technical staff;
  • Ability to multi-task; and
  • BS or higher degree in computer science or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of MicroStrategy reporting, architecture and operations;
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of Data Warehouse design and Star Schema methodology;
  • Experience with Oracle Databases; and
  • Performance tuning of SQL queries.


Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
