AARP's Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) Group includes Membership, Content and Editorial, Customer Experience, External Relations, Brand Strategy and Strategic Communications. Across paid, earned, shared and owned channels, ICM manages AARP's reputation, drives engagement and member growth, and showcases AARP's mission and value through one, integrated voice.

Develops compelling, valuable content to attract and engage customers and prospects with the objective of enhancing brand awareness and equity and driving profitable customer action. Creates promotional publications, advertisements, brochures, articles, social media posts, product training, etc. that inform, educate, and/or entertain a defined target audience; collects and analyzes data on the performance of specific communications or campaigns. Collaborates with management to identify opportunities to streamline marketing communications processes and develops new procedures that support the business unit/department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance on social media content tied to AARP issue areas and enterprise strategy priorities.
  • Assist in the development of social media content to engage prospects, members and influencers.
  • Drive growth in key metrics, analyze content performance and provide strategic guidance to better engage communities.
  • Maintain the AARP brand voice on established and emerging social platforms, and ensure social content aligns with AARP brand guidelines and standards.
  • Draft social copy that effectively communicates and engages AARP's communities across social platforms.
  • Oversee editorial calendar, including scheduling and publishing.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with internal business unit(s) and external partners.
  • Stay current on industry trends and technological developments to inform social media initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related discipline (advanced degree preferred) and 5-8 years of experience in developing and implementing social media strategies for a variety of clients at an agency or large, complex organization. Previous social media management experience is required, including social content and community management. Paid media management is a plus. Previous multicultural marketing work experience.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to manage/implement social content strategy and engage/grow communities.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to manage social programs for multiple stakeholders and audiences, possessing strong time management skills.
  • Deep expertise in social media copywriting for large organizations and/or brands.
  • Demonstrates an ability to use data, analytics, and audience metrics to measure and drive growth.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills. Possesses a strong client service orientation and demonstrates excellent understanding of, and ability to work within, organizational politics, networks, and a matrix system.
  • Mastery of third-party scheduling tools, such as Sprinklr, Hootsuite, Spredfast, and third-party project management tools, including Air Table and Asana.
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates a strong working knowledge and understanding of social communications platforms, blogs, microblogs, mobile, user-generated sites, etc.
  • Commitment to quality and accuracy -- strong attention to detail.
  • Displays a proven track record of working with distributed teams and freelance resources.
  • This position works in an open-space office environment and the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise is required. This position requires regular use of computer keyboard, mouse and screen(s), review of marketing creative (color), and will communicate via mobile phone and computer.
  • This is an in-office position and the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise is required.
