Position Information
The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office for Arlington County is seeking a Data and Litigation Support Analyst to ensure compliance with data disclosure requirements and other public-facing data needs, identification and coordination of system updates, and leveraging technology to address the operational needs of the Office (e.g., automating and customizing reports and forms). This position serves as the primary point of contact for data-related requirements for the office and provides ongoing liaison with the office's leadership team to identify and curate data from various sources (e.g., case management software, local and state databases, etc.) and to ensure all pertinent data is being accurately captured and analyzed.

Specific duties include:

  • Producing reports and litigation support data for the office;
  • Leveraging technology and identifying system updates, customizations, and forms to address operational needs of the office;
  • Coordinating resolution with vendors;
  • Designing and implementing reports and databases to support data mining and reporting requirements, including data related to the following:
    • case dispositions;
    • performance measures;
    • compliance requirements;
    • litigation and discovery support;
    • exhibit preparation; and
    • other data needs as required;
  • Providing staff training regarding data management and systems best practices, including the case management system, body worn camera system, etc.;
  • Monitoring/auditing access to the digital evidence system (Evicence.com) to ensure compliance with professional standards;
  • Preparing digital evidence and exhibits for attorneys;
  • Providing back-up IT support to ensure attorneys have appropriate resources in the courtrooms; and
  • Creating and maintaining user accounts and security profiles.
The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Proficiency with case management systems such as Prosecutor by Karpel, an SQL reporting tool (Jaspersoft), and a digital evidence record system (Axon's Evidence.com);
  • Ability to convert a mockup from an Excel document, PDF, or a piece of paper into a report or digital/non-digital exhibits;
  • Ability to explain how a data repot generated by this position arrived at the final result;
  • Technical training, certifications, T-SQL (Microsoft SQL Server) experience;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.

Selection Criteria
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics or related field plus some experience in analysis of business requirements especially related to the use of automated technology, some of which included experience in the management of smaller projects or as a team leader on larger projects.

Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year for year basis.

Desirables: Preference will be given to applicants with the following:

  • Experience working in the criminal justice system and/or a law office;
  • Experience with Prosecutor by Karpel (PBK); and
  • Power BI experience.
