Someone who loves to plan — including the unexpected — and will step up to propose solutions when things aren't working. And above all, an excellent writer who is focused on relating to an audience and creating the visual appeal to meet those needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, Journalism, Information Technology, or related fields of study
  • In lieu of the bachelor's degree, four (4) years' experience in a digital content management capacity, to offset the degree. This in lieu of education portion satisfies the education requirement only. The number of years' experience referenced below must also be met

Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience managing public, digital communications content in a customer-facing environment, i.e. industrial/manufacturing, hospitality, business, media or public transportation. The five years include a minimum of two (2) years managing subordinate staff

  • In accordance with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) this job has been identified as critical to mission essential functions. Incumbents in this role may be required to report to or continue to work in the event of authorized office closings or service suspensions due to severe weather, natural disaster, fire, operational emergencies or related events.

Summary

The Manager, Digital Content, manages Metro's digital presence and crisis interphase across all external media and communication platforms. The incumbent leads a team to create innovative and compelling content for communication to Metro customers. In addition, this position interacts with various departments to track the effectiveness of the digital communications content and works collaboratively to generate new content and messaging programs, as necessary. Experience leading a team is paramount and skills in social media management software, developing rich digital content (written, photo, video, etc.), excellent editorial and oral communication skills, and solid attention to detail is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Oversees the implementation of all external digital content across Metro for web, mobile, social, signage, in-station, and onboard vehicles.
  • Provides strategic prioritization of program messaging, review content for consistency and accuracy, and all digital platforms.
  • Leads a team of digital contributors who design and implement content for all Metro external communications.
  • Develops a workflow system to streamline all digital content materials (templates, content hooks, signage).
  • Storyboards content using graphic design & video software
  • Assists in the video production process including storyboarding, filming, editing, and post-production
  • Monitors trends and analyzes data to track performance, identifies opportunities, and increases Metro's digital presence for customers.
