The Manager of Expressive Therapy reports to the Director of Clinical Services. The manager assists in identifying and planning for adjunct programming to derive desired patient outcomes. In supervising the Expressive Therapists, the Manager assures that clinically sound programs are performed to adhere to Hospital policies, procedures, external regulatory/governmental agencies, and are age/population specific. In addition to supervisory responsibility, performs work of the Expressive Therapist. Represent the Expressive Therapy Dept to other departments within the Hospital and other external customer groups. Supervises, coordinates, and implements all expressive therapy interventions across the entire Rockville campus. Supervises all expressive therapy staff and interns. Maintains budget of department and manages all expressive therapy supplies as required. Manages external resources used for expressive therapy as needed. Coordinates expressive therapy staff with unit staff as required for treatment team. Manages day to day operations of the department including scheduling of staff, staff coverage, supervision, budgetary concerns, payroll, hiring and disciplinary action and other duties as required.

Work Schedule:

Administratively supervise all inpatient therapy staff, including documentation and case review

Provides individual, group, and family therapies to clients and their families as needed

Participates in and interdisciplinary treatment team to propose and develop strategies and interventions that would promote excellent therapeutic outcomes

Assesses and intervenes in cases of suspected/disclosed child/adult neglect/abuse issues Documents services provided and disseminates information/reports to community referral sources and agencies, i.e., DJJ, DSS, HHS, APS, CPS, LCC, etc.

Coordinates with the interdisciplinary team, referral sources, and community resources aftercare and supportive services to ensure a successful discharge planning process. Promotes positive patient-family-community relations

Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to diffuse psychotic and/or behavioral crises to ensure client, unit, and staff safety and stability

Serves as liaison between inpatient therapy team and leadership staff
