This Marketing Project Manager (MPM) role will specifically be part of a cross-functional team focused on Checking Acquisitions within the Retail & Direct Bank of Capital One. Checking marketing is a key priority for the Retail Bank - our team is at the forefront of a critical strategic imperative where we are launching a robust and innovative learning agenda. We lead the end-to-end strategy and development of marketing that drives primary, profitable checking accounts - championing best in class marketing technology and test and learn approaches focused on constant optimization. The creative and analytically rigorous culture of the team challenges and empowers associates to push the envelope, drive new agendas and influence new ways of working. This role will be at the forefront of new process development to enable modern marketing approaches, marketing delivery across multi-faceted campaigns, and marketing process management across various partners and stakeholders. This role will lead well-managed project requirements in an agile environment to bring customer-facing messages to market in our main channels, such as direct mail, email, online banking and more. Partnering with our marketing strategists, this person is responsible for coordinating the team's tasks to ensure deliverables and timelines are met. This includes coordination of workback plans & processes for all materials and leading the team's project timelines through an agile scrum system. Additionally, the MPM will partner with our internal front-line, product teams and external vendors to ensure error-free launch and edits of our marketing plans. Finally, they will keep the manager and their team members informed of project status and any issues that may impact the schedule.

General Responsibilities:
  • Work on large and small scale projects that have a direct impact on the company.
  • Drive projects based on defined priorities; ensure scope of deliverables, timelines and budget are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate and / or escalate as needed
  • Plan, design, manage and execute project plans to ensure delivery. This activity includes management through feasibility, design, planning and implementation - as well as ushering creative assets through Legal, Compliance and other partner approvals.
  • Leverage problem solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent and maintain key project and well-managed documentation
  • Partner with project customers to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery
  • Forge relationships with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments
  • Identify ways to improve and streamline business process
  • Exhibit a proven track record of project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage the work
  • Demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes
  • Demonstrate organizational agility to adapt to changing demands and manage many parallel priorities
  • Display strong consulting and collaboration skills


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • At least 5 years of Project Management experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters / MBA degree
  • 7+ years of Project Management experience
  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • 1+ years of experience achieving results with complex projects
  • 1+ years of experience in direct marketing channels and digital campaign execution
  • 1+ years of Project Management experience in an agile environment
