Westat's research, technical, and administrative staff of more than 2,000 is located at our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, near Washington, DC.

Job Summary:
Westat is seeking an experienced librarian for a part-time position with its Information Resources Center team. In this role you will work 15-20 hours per week. This position is based onsite at our office in Rockville, Maryland. 

Job Responsibilities:
•    Conducting literature searches for published and grey literature in a variety of subject areas and documenting search methodology
•    Responding to complex reference questions 
•    Researching copyright status and handling permissions requests
•    Maintaining a database of staff publications
•    Using bibliographic software programs (e.g., EndNote) to manage search results
•    Staffing the Information Desk
•    Communicating effectively with requestors 
•    Collaborating with other librarians on research activities  
•    Other special projects, as assigned

Basic Qualifications:
•    ALA-accredited master's degree in library or information science.
•    5 years of library experience, including at least 3 years of demonstrated bibliographic database searching. 
•    Knowledge of specialized research tools (e.g., ProQuest, PubMed)
•    Proficiency with MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel)

The ideal candidate must possess strong research, customer service, organizational, and analytical skills, proficiency in written and oral communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work both independently and as a team member. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to contribute in a team-based environment
