Job Summary: 
Westat is seeking a Research Associate and experienced data analyst to work in a multidisciplinary team that supports data analysis and projects in health services research studies. The ideal candidate will have experience analyzing Medicare claims and other administrative data using the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) Integrated Data Repository (IDR) and familiarity with CMS innovative payment models.

Job Responsibilities:
•    Develop analytic code to combine various data sources and conduct data cleaning, data manipulation, variable creation, and descriptive analyses.
•    Respond to ad hoc requests by thinking through the types of analyses and results needed to answer research questions.
•    Conduct quality assurance of other analysts' code and data files.
•    Write technical specifications for data files, analytic variables, and production reports.
•    Develop database designs.
•    Prepare, document, and perform quality control checks of file sets delivered to Westat's clients. 
•    Automate analytic processes and reports.

Basic Qualifications:
•    A Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience analyzing data in the IDR or using similar claims data systems using SQL or SAS.
•    A Ph.D. in the social sciences, public health, health services research, or other quantitative analytic field plus 2 or more years of relevant analysis experience using SQL or SAS.
•    A Master's degree in the social sciences, public health, health services research, or other quantitative analytic field plus 5 or more years of relevant analysis experience using SQL or SAS.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Demonstrated expertise in quantitative research methods, including statistical inference.
•    Experience with other software, such as Python, Linux, R, Visual Basic.
