Legal Pro Bono Project Manager

Everyone deserves meaningful access to justice. Since the formation of Legal's Pro Bono Program in 2011, our attorneys and legal professionals have provided more than 18,000 hours in free legal services each year to the people who need it most. As the program expands, this new role will assist in building out, managing, and evolving Legal's Pro Bono program, with the goal of engaging both attorneys and legal professionals in meaningful pro bono opportunities, developing a deeper partnership with Capital One's Community Affairs team and external groups like the Pro Bono Institute and nonprofit legal services providers, as well as coordinating with other groups across Capital One to expand our services and our impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of Legal's pro bono program across Legal's footprint, monitoring engagement and participation, and helping to sustain and evolve the program
  • Partnering with Legal's Pro Bono Accountable Executive, and the Pro Bono Leadership Team to support their efforts; coordinate, attend, and lead Pro Bono Leadership Team meetings
  • Track and monitor Legal's pro bono projects, ensure the comprehensive tracking of hours, reporting out on a regular basis
  • Track the pro bono budget, sponsorships, and other expenses, handling pre-approval and approval process of pro bono expenses
  • Assist in obtaining conflicts checks, if necessary
  • Be a strategic advisor to Legal's Pro Bono Accountable Executive, including assessing overall trends of Legal's pro bono program, suggesting ideas for improvement and expansion
  • Partner closely with Community Affairs for an exchange of information and best practices; conduct outreach to Legal's law firm partners, other legal services provides, bar associations, and nonprofits across Legal's footprint
  • Assist with the execution of pro bono events, sponsorships, trainings, surveys and other related efforts
  • Assist with content and strategy for internal and external marketing of Legal's pro bono program


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
  • At least 2 years experience in a project manager, communication, or administrative role


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • Demonstrated success developing creative and effective approaches to problem solving
  • Proven experience in building relationships with senior management and executives
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with all levels of law firm personnel, non-profit and other outside organizations, clients, and others
  • Highly organized with the ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment
  • Ability to tell a compelling story through data and presentations
