Job Summary:
Westat is seeking an English-Spanish translator specializing in Puerto Rican Spanish to join our Translation team. The translator will be responsible for producing accurate and culturally appropriate Spanish translations of survey questionnaires and related study materials, along with other document-related tasks. The preferred candidate will use critical thinking in collaborating with project teams to preform quick-turnaround translations on Spanish language-related assignments. This is a full-time position with the possibility for partial telework.
Job Responsibilities:
• Spanish translation for our various research areas that include questionnaires, outreach materials, consent forms, and other types of documents needed to communicate with Spanish-speaking communities.
• Proofreading, editing, and terminology verification; usage, creation and maintenance of glossaries and automated translation memories.
• Conduct assessments and reports on the language proficiency on Spanish-language interviewers for our large field studies and other projects.
Basic Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree is required.
• At least 2 years of translation experience.
Preferred qualifications:
• ATA certification.
• Familiarity with computer-assisted translation software, especially DVX.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Excellent command of the English and Spanish languages.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
• Possess excellent communication skills, be detail oriented and work in a team environment.
