AARP Services, Inc., founded in 1999, is a wholly-owned taxable subsidiary of AARP. AARP Services manages the provider relationships for and performs quality control oversight of the wide range of products and services that carry the AARP name and are made available by independent providers as benefits to AARP's millions of members. The provider offers currently span health products, financial products, travel and leisure products, and life event services. Specific products include Medicare supplemental insurance; credit cards, auto and home, mobile home and motorcycle insurance, life insurance and annuities; member discounts on rental cars, cruises, vacation packages and lodging; special offers on technology and gifts; pharmacy services and legal services. AARP Services also engages in new product development activities for AARP and provides certain consulting services to outside companies.

Our Marketing Services team is looking for you! Our team plans and executes media plans for AARP Services - the for-profit division of the AARP enterprise. These efforts include owned, earned and paid media, including paid search (SEM), Facebook & Instagram posts, emails and e-newsletters, display and native ads, direct mail and a variety of PR campaigns.

As an intern, you will apply strategic, analytical, and creative thinking to assist our team in planning and executing many deliverables across our Lifestyle, Health, and Financial lines of business. This is a paid internship with an anticipated start date of Spring 2022 and an end date of December 2022, and it may have the option to continue for additional semesters.

On any given day, you could be: assisting in the development of the weekly AARP Member Benefit Update email that is distributed to 8 Million+ AARP members; brainstorming ideas and proofing content for a major multi-channel Travel campaign; creating efficiencies to streamline project management across multiple teams; or working with our Data Insights team to maintain vital tracking parameters for high-profile membership campaigns. Responsibilities

On an average day, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Support email personalization and operations, including developing standard/default placements, maintaining email asset folders, and QC email versioning creative to ensure assets meet channel and AARP requirements.
  • Track personalization performance against email distribution segments.
  • Standardize and maintain project status reporting and regularly distribute to ASI Marketing and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain tracking parameters for all digital tracking codes, working with Digital Analytics, Marketing Analytics, and AARP Membership teams to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate collection of offline provider responses with the Marketing Analytics team.
  • Work with Lifestyle and Health & Financial Marketing Managers to support the ideation and execution of major, multi-channel seasonal and provider-specific Marketing campaigns.
  • Update Marketing Team Toolkit documents, spec guidelines, and presentations as needed.

Qualifications

Prospective interns must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university; be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students; and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship.

AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program.
