The Division of Education Leadership and Policy in the George Mason University College of Education and Human Development invites applications for a full-time Education Specialist/Senior Program Assistant.

About the Position:

We are seeking applicants who have administrative, fiscal, and supervisory experience and expertise in higher education. As a senior staff member, the candidate would be working closely with students, faculty, and staff and thus needs to have a strong service orientation and excellent communication skills. The candidate provides information and guidance to prospective and current students, assists the program faculty with academic advising, works with administrative leaders within and outside the division, and coordinates the admission cycle for the division.

The candidate will provide general administrative support for the office, including, but not limited to, scheduling appointments, data entry (CRM), supporting hiring processes, fiscal support, contract support, course scheduling, tracking financial expenditures and reconciliation, assisting with program outreach and marketing, admissions coordination, and other administrative projects and data support. The position works closely with other university offices in meeting program goals and completing tasks.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Experience with tasks aligned with this position within a higher education setting;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and to consistently apply standard operating procedures and business processes;
  • Experience working with a customer relationship management (TargetX/Salesforce), student information (Banner), and/or other IT system used to support higher education; and
  • Experience working with a diverse group of individuals.
