Development ManagerThe National Security Institute is looking for a Development Manager who will be responsible for successfully supporting NSI's fundraising efforts, including providing administrative and operational support, developing cultivation and stewardship strategies, managing and analyzing reports for the organization, and managing financial and budget activities. The position will also serve as NSI's liaison to the GMU Foundation and Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations.George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Department:The National Security Institute aims to be the intellectual powerhouse supporting a robust American national security posture-dedicated to incorporating a realistic assessment of the threats facing the United States and finding real-world answers to hard national security questions and providing them to policymakers in way they can easily consume. We also strive to educate future leaders and to shape the debate on critical issues by providing balance to the public discourse and identifying solutions that both enable a robust national defense and safeguard our constitutional liberties.Responsibilities:Assisting with pre and post proposals, asks, and grant activities including prospecting, being first writer on grants, tracking, and monitoring;Tracking personal prospect contacts (face to face visits, phone calls, and e-mails), all donations, and running reports and conducting analysis on progress;Providing and coordinating research on high-level individual, foundation, and corporate donors and prospects;Is responsible for overall operations management of the stewardship function including reporting, acknowledgements, production of collateral, project management, and publication production;Managing NSI's budgeting and financial operations, including setting annual revenue goals;Communicating NSI's financial outlook and budget projections to NSI leadership; andManaging NSI expenditures and accurate reporting, including the impact on current and future programs and projects.Required Qualifications:Experience in prospect research;Experience with budgeting;Highly organized and extremely detail-oriented;Able to balance multiple projects and activities;Eager to excel in a fast-paced environment; andAvailability for evening and weekend events as necessary.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in grant writing; andExperience fundraising for think tanks.
