Associate Director of Marketing and Communications George Mason University's University Life (UL) is hiring a talented Associate Director of Marketing and Communications to work with the Communications and Marketing team. Provide audience insight and define success using evidence-based metrics and analytics. Improve efficiency by implementing new technologies and promoting a common approach to marketing and communications. Strengthen alliances both within UL and between UL and campus culture by devising and executing targeted communications plans and creating connections through collaborative communication efforts. Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Associate Director will:1) Oversee the creative design team and manage task assignments for the team;2) Serve as Creative Director for Housing and Residence Life; 3) Assist Director in the development and execution of team policy/procedure including Standard Operating Procedure and Project Management procedures;4) Report out weekly on team metrics and projects; and 5) Participate in strategic planning. Design Team Supervision Manage a team of 6-8 full-time design professionals;Manage a team of wage professionals; andWeekly meetings to share work in progress and discuss important team agenda items. Dedicated Service Line to Housing and Residence Life (HRL)Serve as Creative Director for HRL;Work closely with Assistant Director assigned to HRL to ensure that HRL branding, marketing and communication is clear and on target; andWork closely with HRL Liaison to ensure that major projects are on track and on target from a project management and creative direction lens.Policy, Procedures, and Assessment Assist Director in the development and execution of team policy/procedure including Standard Operating Procedure and Project Management procedures;Help finalize and continually assess Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including project intake, project management, project delivery, turnaround times; andCreate process for feedback from clients, assess feedback, and work with Director to implement improvements in SOPs based on feedback. Metrics and Reporting Report out weekly on team metrics and projects;Establish weekly report structure to stay informed of team's activities tracking number of projects using metrics for jobs requested, jobs in progress (and status of progress), and jobs on hold; Share weekly progress reports and important notes with Director; andAssess success and red flags. Strategic Operations Participate in Strategic Planning for the division;Engage in Marketing and Communications activities pertinent to UL Strategic Planning; andHelp Director in strategic planning for unit - TK20. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's in marketing, communications or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;Knowledgeable about higher-education, marketing, and communication trends;Proven project management skills including working with a project management tool;Excellent oral and written communication skills;Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a deadline sensitive environment;Proven ability to execute large campaigns at the executive level;Proven ability to strategize and forecast marketing and communication trends;Five years of experience in marketing and communications;Experience with a shared or centralized in-house marketing service;Experience in brand management;Experience in student affairs; andProven experience managing multiple projects while leading a team.
