The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) is seeking a communications and events specialist to provide Fairfax-based marketing support half-time for the College's School of Sport, Recreation, and Tourism Management (SRTM) and its Director. The School offers a diverse array of undergraduate and graduate programs.   • This position is designed to provide support to the Directors, Academic Program Coordinators, and faculty in SRTM for the development, implementation, and updating of an integrated marketing communications plan that includes social media, advertising, promotions, internet communications, and events.
  • Ensures that marketing communications are executed effectively and in a timely fashion by integrating marketing communications, including events and collateral, and to assure an appropriately segmented and coordinated campaign.
  • Communicates regularly and consistently with CEHD units, and implements SRTM marketing in a manner consistent with CEHD guidelines and expectations.
  • Coordinates with IT support for CEHD to assure that the SRTM website is consistent with College guidelines, up-to-date, and continuously improved.
  • Builds and maintains a photo archive that can be accessed and used as needed for developing engaging marketing communications.
  • Designs and oversees the School's integrated marketing communications across multiple platforms that optimize the School's branding, positioning, and student recruitment.
  • Contributes to SRTM administrative functions.

Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) and experience in marketing communications and events.
  • Candidates must have effective communication and organizational skills and experience with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Candidates must also have the ability to work with a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree is preferred. Experience with systems specific to Mason, such as Banner, Blackboard, VIA, E-VA, CIM, and EPAF would also be an asset.
