HR & Finance AnalystThe George Mason University, College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), invites applicants for the position of Human Resources and Finance Analyst in the Dean's Office. CHSS is Mason's largest college offering undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees, with about 400 full-time faculty, 100 staff, 400 graduate assistants and 200 part-time faculty. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position:This position is on the Finance & HR team which is responsible for financial stewardship of college resources and assists staff throughout the college with hiring and other employment transactions in addition to financial processing, analysis and reporting. The position leads college processing of temporary positions. The position works with members of central HR, Fiscal Services, the Provost's Office and department and center staff to coordinate and ensure that all processing is within university compliance standards, and as efficient as possible. The position is also responsible for monitoring and tracking fiscal transactions and processing, analyzing data, maintaining records and reconciling accounts. Responsibilities:Fully comprehend all temporary assignment hiring policies and procedures of the University;Enter Employee Personnel Action Forms (EPAFs) into Banner in a timely, accurate manner and track records to verify correct payment to employees;Train all new college staff on temporary hiring processing and procedures;Advise administrative staff to ensure assignments are hired under appropriate categories;Act as liaison between the central HR office and CHSS Finance & HR for updates to changes in temporary hiring policy or procedures;Coordinate, process and track all summer instructional hiring, faculty administrative stipends for accuracy and compliance with University summer labor maximums and prepare upload files for HR submission;Coordinate, process and track all adjunct hires for the college and prepare upload files for HR submission;Reconcile various Dean's Office accounts on a monthly basis;Prepare and submit journal vouchers to move costs to appropriate accounts;Review and verify CHSS travel authorizations for compliance with Commonwealth and University regulations. Reassign approvals in travel system to appropriate approvers;Ad hoc analysis of financial and hiring data when needed;Serve as subject matter expert for purchasing at the university;Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience;Proficiency with MS Office applications Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint;Detail-oriented and comfortable with technical data entry;Able to interpret complex policies and procedures;Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), customer service skills, diplomacy skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community;Ability to effectively prioritize work assignments and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced dynamic environment.Preferred Qualifications:Higher Education experience;Banner processing experience.
