School Coordinator

The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) is seeking an experienced, Fairfax-based administrative support professional for the College's School of Sport, Recreation, and Tourism Management (SRTM) and its Director. The School offers a diverse array of undergraduate and graduate programs. This position is designed to be the primary administrative point of contact for SRTM. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Serve as the face of the program to welcome and direct visitors to the SRTM administrative suite;
  • Coordinate the hiring and contract generation processes for the division's adjunct faculty;
  • Coordinate the generation of academic course schedules;
  • Coordinate SRTM space and equipment needs (key control, telephones, common areas);
  • Assist SRTM Academic Advisors (e.g., coordinate processing of student forms);
  • Serve as the SRTM liaison with college support personnel focused on alumni relations, technology support, and communications;
  • Provide administrative support to SRTM committees, working groups, task forces, and personnel as needed on matters having to do with marketing, financial management, relationships with other schools and departments, and relations with industry;
  • Provide administrative support for book orders, curriculum change protocols, and accreditation-related processes;
  • Attend School, Program, Working Group, and Task Force meetings as needed;
  • Oversee student workers and workflow.

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) and experience coordinating administrative tasks in an office setting is required. Candidates must have effective communication and organizational skills and experience with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint). Candidates must also have the ability to work with a team and to take proactive responsibility for coordinating the administrative aspects of the team's academic activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's degree is preferred. Experience with systems specific to Mason, such as Banner, Blackboard, VIA, E-VA, CIM, and EPAF would also be an asset.
