Simulation Operations SpecialistThe George Mason University School of Nursing, within the College of Health and Human Services, invites applications for a Simulation Operations Specialist (SOS). George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages applicants who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the School of Nursing:The mission of the School of Nursing is to prepare graduates of the BSN, MSN, DNP and PhD programs to function as interdisciplinary health professionals and citizens who provide leadership, health care, and service to individuals, families and the community.About the Position:Under the direction of the Simulation Coordinator, the Simulation Operations Specialist (SOS) runs and supports simulation-based education for a wide range of learners, including nursing students, inter-professional health students and practitioners.The SOS position leads program development of new systems, applications, software conversions and upgrades, and troubleshooting. The SOS facilitates operations, scheduling, provides technical assistance for simulation, collaborates with faculty/staff to resolve problems and serves as a backup to the Simulation Coordinator.Responsibilities:Execute set-up, programming, maintenance, use, disassembly, and troubleshooting of simulation equipment;Provide training and serves as a resource for staff utilizing simulation equipment;Program, test and run scenarios with faculty;Set-up/breakdown simulation sessions, including room environment, simulators, equipment, supplies, and moulage of patient simulators/standardized patients;Conduct routine equipment and simulator maintenance based on vendor guidelines and recommendations;Maintain digital A/V hardware and software systems;Develop an agreed upon level of technical proficiency with all aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, and repair of all of the simulation center and associated equipment within one year of hiring, including:Computer-driven human simulator systems.Life-support systems and physiologic monitor.Personal computers and peripheral.Audiovisual and wireless communication system.Maintain proficiency in existing and emerging technologies, participate in training, and attend conferences for professional development/continuing education;With appropriate notice, work at night and/or on weekends, if needed;Perform other job duties, as assigned.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare, Education, Technology, or a related field or an equivalent combination of skills and experience;1-3 years of experience in clinical care in a patient care setting;1-3 years of experience with simulation-based education;Manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment with a diverse clientele;Work independently and as part of a team.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare, Education, Technology, or a related field;3-5 years of Simulation-based Education experience;Certified Health Care Simulation Operations Specialist certification;Experience working with standardized patients.
