About the Position:

The Salesforce Communications Analyst is a key member of the Enrollment Management division. This position is not a creative marketing position, meaning there is no content creation as part of the position. Instead, this position will provide leadership, technical support and analysis of Salesforce communications including, but not limited to: Support of email and text message communications, troubleshooting, reporting, training, daily operations in Salesforce, and working with stakeholders to ensure the Customer Relationship Management tool (CRM) and connected applications meet current and evolving communications and marketing needs. The Salesforce Communications Analyst must have a deep technical understanding of CRMs, preferably Salesforce, and the system's capabilities.

The Salesforce Communications Analyst will report to the Salesforce Communications Manager, and will be responsible for user support of Mason's Salesforce platform and the technical components of CRM communications, such as email or SMS text messages. This role will have a strong connection to the University Life division and current student communications. This individual will collaborate extensively with IT staff, client stakeholders, and end users to support, enhance and expand the Salesforce operations and adoption, as it relates to communications and marketing efforts for prospective, new, and current students. For the end users, the Salesforce Communications Analyst will provide ongoing operational and technical support. The successful individual will be a creative thinker, have intellectual curiosity, and a competitive spirit in order to bring innovation and excellence to this key role.


  • Work closely with the University Life division to support current and prospective student email and text message communications;
  • Influence business partner decision making to optimize requirements prioritization in relation to CRM communications;
  • Assist multiple stakeholders in resolving conflicts with CRM usage, technical errors, and data governance);
  • Create and maintain listviews, reports and dashboards;
  • Data management and reporting as it relates to Communications and Marketing efforts;
  • Develop and provide one-to-one and support small group user training, in coordination with the Salesforce Trainer; develop and maintain documentation; and maintain user engagement;
  • Work with members of the key teams to document and help create efficiencies on their processes;
  • Develop expertise and act as a Subject Matter Expert on App Exchange products used for marketing and communications such as email and text message; and
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Progressive (typically 2-3 years) experience using a CRM in a marketing and communications capacity;
  • Progressive (typically 2-3 years) general CRM experience;
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, and self-sufficient, with a focus on continual education regarding new and existing CRM functionality;
  • Significant experience working in CRMs;
  • Ability to manage change effectively and work with teams that collaborate with university stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of multi-channel communication campaigns in tools such as Salesforce; and
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours when needed for project resolutions (this occurs approximately 5% of the time).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • 2 years of experience using Salesforce in a marketing and communications capacity;
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting marketing and communications metrics and data; and
  • Meeting facilitation experience.
