This position provides accounting functions to the Credit Union to include reconcilement of all general ledger accounts and accounts payable processing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of accounting, clerical, and data entry duties in the Accounting Department
  • Enter and post all general ledger accounting transactions into the accounting software package
  • Prepare a variety of general ledger vouchers for posting in the daily settlement process after approval by Accounting Manager, AVP of Accounting or VP of Accounting & Finance
  • Perform balancing, reconciliation, research and problem solving on a variety of general ledger accounts
  • Assist staff with month-end closings, i.e. data entry, reconciliation of accounts, error corrections and filing documents.
  • Assist with processing Accounts Payables including:
    • Process vendors\u2019 invoices for payment
    • Post payments to appropriate vendors\u2019 records, updates the general ledger, and maintains appropriate accounting vendor files
    • Handle telephone inquiries from vendors, customers and members, both internal and external
    • Ensure all new vendors are screened through OFAC before any payments are sent
  • Collect and review employee travel expense reports. Ensures that employees adhere to company policies regarding allowable travel expenses
  • Review employee corporate credit card statements to ensure all receipts are received. Vouchers credit card transaction to appropriate general ledgers.
  • Handle telephone inquiries from internal and external members
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Any college level Accounting courses required
  • Must have experience with G/L reconciliation
  • Minimum 1-2 years financial accounting experience required
  • Proficiency in computer software, including: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Access, Accounting software, Federal Reserve software
