COVID Recovery Services Proogram Coordinator

General Definition of Work:

The Special Education Coordinator for the COVID Recovery Services Programming provides leadership in developing and supporting the division's special education response to the impact of COVID.

Education and Experience:

Candidates should possess a master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university and be eligible for endorsement as a special education teacher, school psychologist, or school social worker, Administration and Supervision endorsement preferred. The position requires a minimum of five years of experience working with children with disabilities in a school setting. Knowledge and experience using various methodologies with various ages of children and types of disabilities are desired.

DATES AND HOURS OF WORK:

Responsibilities related to the position would begin in November 2021. It is expected that the Special Education COVID Recovery Services Coordinator would assist Specialized Instruction Leadership in planning for afterschool and Saturday COVID Recovery Services and be available for problem-solving and support on each day COVID Recovery Services are offered. It is anticipated that COVID Recovery Services Programming will begin on January 10, 2022, and last through the remainder of the 2021-2022 SY.

Essential Functions:
  • Determining staffing needs based on projected services.
  • Selection, assignment, and orientation of all teachers and staff.
  • Create recommended tutoring groups based on similar subjects, skill levels, and grades of students.
  • In collaboration with Specialized Instruction Leadership, and in coordination with school-based administrators, ensure a location for services is identified in each building.
  • Establishing and maintaining an ongoing communication process for parents.
  • In coordination with school-based administrators, coordinate busing needs and changes with transportation
  • Organize distribution of materials to schools.
  • Analyze data to monitor the effectiveness of the program by ensuring all tutors are addressing students' needs and students are making progress on IEP goals; follow-up with Specialized Instruction Leadership as needed.
  • Monitors tutoring group sizes and recommends adjustments as needed.
  • Maintains records, both electronic and paper to support compliant and efficient programming which would include but is not limited to facilitating payroll requests, organizing the processing of purchases for COVID Recovery Services, reporting to parents of the progress of children served in COVID Recovery Services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Specialized Instruction Communicates regularly with Office of Specialized Instruction staff regarding the status of the program and individual students.


Clearances:
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.

Public Health Compliance
  • Proof of COVID vaccination. Exemptions for religious/medical will be reviewed.
  • Must follow safety and health protocols.
