Overview

AARP Foundation works to end senior poverty by helping vulnerable people over 50 build economic opportunity. Formulates, implements, and delivers external perspective and capabilities to enable product innovation ideas. Works closely with cross-functional teams through all aspects of idea generation, sourcing partner targets, development of the business case, financial modeling, negotiation, and integration activities. Collaborates with management to identify opportunities to streamline processes and develop new procedures that support the business unit/department.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate innovation workshops with our innovation teams
  • Facilitate reviews of innovation work by expert units and leadership
  • Constantly review the innovation process for improvements
  • Help solve practical problems experienced by the innovation teams
  • Report to leadership on the progress of our innovation work
  • Advise on iterations to strategic plan deadlines in light of our progress
  • Manage collaborations with external organizations
  • Enable opportunities to improve our innovation capacity through learning
  • This is an in-office position and the ability to work effectively in a quiet environment is required
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills required.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA required. MA, MS or MBA preferred.
  • 5 or more years' experience in either innovation management, start-ups, social entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship.
  • Experience in coaching, facilitating, mentoring or teaching start-up teams in either an entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial context.
  • Experience with Lean Start-Up, Human-Centered Design, and Agile Development methodologies and an understanding of the Shared Value approach to social innovation in order to lead start up process and facilitate workshops.
  • Excellent business judgment, a familiarity with a wide variety of business models both in the for-profit and non-profit sectors, and the ability to see the potential application of these models in the context of social innovation.
  • Well-networked in the entrepreneurial, social-entrepreneurship or impact investing fields with an ability to engage these resources to assist the Foundation in its mission.
  • Proficiency with both quantitative and qualitative research and analysis.
  • Preference to take responsibility, manage several streams of work at once, and deliver professional work-product promptly and on-deadline.
  • This is an in-office position and the ability to work effectively in a quiet environment is required.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills required.
