Summary: Capital One's Commercial Operations provides support for all of Commercial Banking businesses, working across a wide range of product groups, including derivatives and loans. Our goal is to deliver a beautiful client experience to our business bankers, internal partners and clients.

This unique position owns the onboarding needs of our Capital Markets business including Loan Syndications, Derivative Trading, Equity Trading, Investment Banking, and M&A.. As a scaling team, the candidate must be open to change, share ideas, and assure processes and procedures are accurate. The candidate should have strong attention to detail, keen problem solving skills, and communicate effectively with both external and internal clients.

Swap Dealer Regulatory Onboarding:

The Regulatory Onboarding support team supports Commodities, Foreign Exchange and Interest Rate Derivatives Business. The Regulatory Onboarding Team is responsible for swap relationship documentation onboarding activities for our derivative counterparties.

The role requires in-depth knowledge of Dodd-Frank and other regulatory frameworks, relating to swap trading relationship documentation. Responsibilities include checks and reviews on new counterparties to ensure they are made in strict accordance with regulatory requirements and the Commercial Banking's internal policies. The team is also responsible for coordinating processes with internal partners (Credit, Operations, Legal, Risk or Compliance).

The candidate will be working with the Business and Technology in the evaluation, development and implementation of technology to support the centralization of regulatory onboarding work (including the integration of requirements emanating from US regulatory reform initiative). Responsibilities also include managing workloads and providing team leadership on day-to-day matters.

Securities Onboarding

Additionally the Regulatory Onboarding team completes customer onboarding and related activities in support of Sales, Trading and Investment Banking products including ATM, ABS and M&A. This role requires securities industry onboarding expertise and regulatory oversight for operations activities. Responsibilities include review and execution of the firm's WSPs, control monitoring activities, escalations/issue resolution and collaborating with partner groups to maintain/update procedures related to onboarding activities.

Commercial Know your Customer

The Commercial Know your Customer (KYC) Fulfillment team is responsible for ensuring that the Commercial Bank meets Anti-Money Laundering (AML) rules as dictated by regulations. The manager will have in-depth knowledge of AML and KYC programs, regulations, standards and compliance requirements and apply them to new and existing clients. They will manage a team that analyzes and interprets documents based on corporate/legal formation documentation and structures in order to extract relevant customer information. In addition, the team also will research, consult with compliance and bankers, escalate, address unresolved issues and manage information in the system of record. The manager will also interact with Quality Control team on findings and improvements

Responsibilities:

Swap Dealer Regulatory Onboarding
  • Supervise and drive Dodd Frank remediation by coordinating with client to obtain required onboarding documentation
  • Manage electronic (Markit counterparty platform) and paper onboarding process to ensure regulatory compliance; Facilitate ISDA Protocol Adherence Letters and Questionnaires
  • Create onboarding policies and procedures
  • Facilitate the regulatory onboarding of new derivatives counterparties in an efficient, compliant, and client-centric manner.
  • Resolve day-to-day matters for regulatory onboarding operations team;
  • Oversee daily control reports and rapidly triage and escalate complex issues or non-compliance to appropriate departments for resolution/immediate documentation outreach. Keep senior management informed.
  • Play a key role in the development, structuring and roll out of new technology and tactical process changes required to ensure onboarding activities are compliant with regulatory reform impacting the Business. This involves defining business requirements and processes, assisting in the preparation of business case proposals and participating in testing of technology solutions.
  • Liaise with derivatives teams across functions to ensure pre-trade compliance, as well as ongoing maintenance of updated information for each counterparty
  • Provide day-to-day oversight and workload management.
  • Assist in the recruitment and management of the team.
  • Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of both business strategies and policies, risk management practices and methodologies, product offerings, financial markets, financial instruments, regulatory requirements, and rapidly changing technology to assist in driving continuous improvement in efficient and client-centric regulatory onboarding procedures.


Securities Onboarding
  • Manages all Securities customer onboarding activities and operations regulatory supervision
    • Manages customer onboarding and KYC for all COF B/Ds
    • Manages manual screening processes (Briger Web)
    • Point person for all B/D IB, SRT and M&A onboarding questions
  • Leads integration and process enhancement initiatives
  • Manages issues and events remediation
  • Owns and performs KYC related controls
  • Collaborates with Risk, CKYC, Compliance and AML to ensure all processes and procedures are updated on a regular basis
  • Participates in regular governance meetings
  • Audit and Exam Support


Commercial Know your Customer
  • Lead team of KYC Specialists supporting development and engagement. Monitor performance metrics, provide feedback and follow performance management practices.
  • Manage workflow daily and prioritize case work. Provide real time monitoring of queues adjusting as needed to meet SLAs.
  • Partner with peers daily to assess overall needs and adjust priorities accordingly to assure team's overall success. Cross train associates to provide flexibility and serve as back-up.
  • Produce reports, analyze data and metrics, populate visual management dashboards
  • Follow well managed practices
  • Flex into production as needed
  • Handle escalations. Assess root cause to determine improvement opportunity (e.g. coaching, process changes, communication)
  • Connect to AML and Commercial community to understand upstream and downstream processes
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed resulting in consistent adherence to requirements to pass audits and exams


Work at Home Technology Requirements:
  • A secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions
  • A reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by using cellular data (hot spot)
    • Cable or fiber connections are preferred

    • Sustained ability to maintain latency less than 250 ms in voice calls is required
  • Hard wired connectivity is preferred, any use of wireless connectivity must be Private (non-public) and password protected through WPA2-PSK (AES) encryption. If you have any questions about your encryption, please consult with your internet provider
    • A private network is password protected where you have ownership or line of sight to every device on the network

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent certification
  • At least 5 years of Derivative Onboarding experience
  • At least 3 years of People Management
  • At least 1 year of Securities experience


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • 7 years of Derivative Onboarding Experience
  • Proficient knowledge of ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes, or ancillary documents including confidentiality agreements, legal opinions, guarantees, control agreements and risk participation agreements;
  • Proven record in initiating, implementing and improving processes and managing through change
  • Experience working in team environment across locations
  • 5 years of KYC or AML experience
  • FINRA licensing or ability to obtain license within 90 days of employment
  • Time-management, organizational skills, communication, judgement and positive demeanor are a must
