Duties

  • As a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (Security), you will independently perform one of the following functions:
  • Cybersecurity Cloud Engineer-Designs, engineers and implements security measures for cloud solutions.
  • Cyber Threat/Vulnerability Engineer-Supports engineering, implementation, configuration and operational support for security tools and capabilities to prevent and mitigate cyber risk.

Qualifications

The position of Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (Security) falls under the 2210 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-14, you must meet the following:

Basic Requirements

GS-14 (or equivalent): individuals must have experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below at the appropriate position level.
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications
Specialized Experience
. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
  • You must possess one year (52-weeks) of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-13) in the Federal service. Such experience includes: IT experience in Cybersecurity Cloud Engineer and/or Cyber Threat/Vulnerability Engineer performing (1) authority for security principles, management oversight, security practices, and procedures in an administration of an enterprise information security program; (2) directing resolution of identified gaps based on new security technologies or threats; and/or (3) supervising response to enterprise cybersecurity challenges by directing analysis and problem resolution planning; and/or (4) management of enterprise level communication.
