Duties

As an Assistant Chief Stationary Engineer, you will:

-Supervise employees engaged in the operation, maintenance and repair of the DCF's electric substation; high and low pressure steam distribution systems for heating, drying; air-conditioning and heating systems; and air and water pressure systems throughout the 1.2 million square feet of space within the DCF.
-Supervise the operation, maintenance and repair of the Intaglio Wiping Solution Preparation Plant. Assure that dosages of ingredients for preparing the intaglio wiping solution are correct and that a log is maintained on water and mixed solution temperatures, transfer and supply pump operation, solution test results, and that changes made in the system are documented and are up to date.
-Direct the maintenance and repair of several vacuum pumps at diverse locations within the DCF. Coordinate with the Office of Safety, the Central Police Operation Center (CPOC), and the TV Room on draining and refilling of the Fire Management Sprinkler System according to zones and points in the system.
-Perform constant reviews on operating and servicing functions in order to provide continuous service and to prevent break-downs. Recommend to the Chief Stationary Engineer the need for major repairs to mechanical systems. Inspects repair jobs when work is completed.

    You must meet the screen-out element Ability to Lead or Supervise (Screen-out), normally addressed at the beginning of the online questions.     • The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for work days during the shutdown period.
    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    • Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis.
    • Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.
    • In accordance with the President's Safer Federal Workforce Task Force Agency Model Safety Principles, all federal employees must be fully vaccinated, except in limited circumstances such as where an employee is legally entitled to a reasonable accommodation, prior to onboarding. All employees, regardless of whether they are teleworking or working onsite, must complete a vaccination attestation during orientation. Unvaccinated candidates will not be eligible to onboard and continue employment with the BEP.
