Duties

  • You will use mathematical techniques (e.g., statistical analysis, data mining, simulation, computer modeling, linear programming) to assist managers in making informed business decisions.
  • You will use research or analytical problem solving methods to identify interrelated program issues, draw conclusions, and recommend apt solutions.
  • You will advise management on the interpretation and use of mathematical models and techniques.
  • You will establish qualitative and quantitative criteria for estimating effectiveness of proposed systems and alternatives.
  • You will use analysis techniques (e.g., hypothesis testing, confidence interval estimation and design of experiments implementation) to facilitate improvements in business processes.

  • This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.


Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Using predictive modeling and advanced statistical analysis to facilitate business decision making; 2) Establishing baseline measures and key performance indicators to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of business programs, products and services; 3) Modifying and tailoring research products to integrate user feedback for continuous process improvement; and 4) Preparing and delivering analytical reports to communicate findings of research studies. 4) Using technical knowledge of systems (such as ORACLE, SQL, Python, R, etc) and other relational/data warehouse architecture to design and develop database systems and programs to enhance reporting, auditing and accountability of force structure data.

Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

Applicants must possess a bachelor's or higher degree in operations research;

OR

A bachelor's or higher degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics and at least 3 of the 24 semester hours are in calculus.
