Duties

  • You will provide Configuration Management leadership and technical expertise for organizational systems in the functional areas of Planning, Configuration Identification, Change Control, Configuration Status Accounting (CSA), and Audits.
  • You will help to establish a center of excellence for planning, identifying, controlling and maintaining configurations of systems with both hardware and software components.
  • You will anticipate future needs or Configuration Management (CM) trends, and investigate the application of new configuration management techniques and tools.
  • You will initiate hardware and software engineering processes and disciplines, and demonstrate experience in leading project teams and conducting financial, resource, and task planning and oversight.
  • You will lead teams in the execution of CM throughout the full life cycle; concept, research, development, testing, and continual improvement processes to field new technologies and capabilities to the warfighter.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field Engineering (S - ENG); Level I. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 pay band (GS-11/12 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing configuration management support and technical systems expertise for an organization in the functional areas of planning, configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting, or audits.

Additional information

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13 and GS-14 grade levels. The salary range shown in the announcement represents all of the positions within the band, including GS-14 equivalent (high grade) positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $134,798).

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
