Join this passionate team of industry-leading individuals supporting the best practices in Agile Software Development on a big data program. Position is located near Chantilly, VA. As a member of this team, you will support the men and women charged with safeguarding the American people and enhancing the Nations safety, security, and prosperity. In this role you will participate as an Agile Scrum team member to provide software development and maintenance for the delivery of releasable software in sprint cycles. Responsible for activities associated with delivery of software solutions associated with customer-defined systems and software projects by working in close collaboration with software developers/engineers, stakeholders, and end users within Agile processes. Responsible for: Designing, developing and implementing custom software ETL scripts Acting as a member of a product team supporting teammates and collaborating with a do what it takes attitude to ensure product and team success Utilizing AWS web services for the development of the organizations data lake project Proactively participate in the Agile software development process to include: sprint planning, sprint demonstrations and retrospectives Supporting release planning with conceptual design and development / refinement of software engineering guidelines Analyzing complex project-related problems and creating innovative solutions involving, scheduling, technology, methodology, tools and solution components Ensuring product quality and timeliness of work, providing advice and guidance, and resolving problems to meet objectives Basic Qualifications: 2+ Years of related experience with a Bachelors; 0 Years with Masters; (4 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for a degree) US Citizen with active polygraph clearance At least 1 year of technical experience with agile software design, development and implementation using Java. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Java, Python; Familiarity with any of the following: Elastic Search, JavaScript, XML, JSON, RDS. S3 Web-Services, and shell scripting YAML, JavaScript Understanding of Micro services architecture and development Experience with source code control systems (Git preferred) Experience using SQL PostgreSQL databases Understanding of database design Excellent written and verbal communication skills with collaboration skills Understanding of elements of the software development life cycle, including planning, development, requirements management, CM, quality assurance, and release management Familiarity with any of the following is highly desirable: ETL tools, message queuing, application security, Jira, data encryption at rest and in transit, KAFKA We are an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
