Unit Description: Are you a "foodie" looking for an opportunity to expand your culinary career? Sodexo has a great opportunity for a Chef Manager for Howard University School of Law located in Washington, DC. The Chef Manager will assist in managing the dining hall, all catering events to include coffee service to upscale events and a team of 5-10 union staff while working closely with the Campus Executive Chef and the Catering Manager. This will be a client-facing position. The dining hall is open Monday-Friday, however, catering events may be scheduled on weekends. This is a great advancement opportunity to showcase your strengths in managing people, executing various styles of catering events and also grow as a culinary leader. Howard University is a private, research university comprised of 13 schools and colleges. The historic main campus sits on a hilltop in Northwest Washington blocks from the storied U Street and Howard Theatre. We are two miles from the US Capitol. The successful candidate will: be responsible for purchasing, menu compliance, inventory, food cost analysis and food production forecasting; ensure Sodexo Culinary standards including recipe compliance and food quality are implemented; have the ability and willingness to develop and motivate team members to embrace culinary innovations; ensure food safety, sanitation and workplace safety standard compliance; and/or have working knowledge of automated food inventory, ordering, production and management systems.
