The Platform Reliability Engineer will be part of a team delivering "Platform" as a capability supporting multiple Raytheon internal projects and external partners. Members of this team work independently, or in teams of two on large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant cloud-based systems in mixed Linux/Windows based environments. They provide Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) utilizing Platform technologies such as VMWare Tanzu, Kubernetes and RedHat OpenShift. This is a diverse team of highly skilled operators who help our customers succeed with Agile and DevOps. As a Platform Reliability Engineer, you will receive additional training in Platform technologies and then be responsible for installation, maintenance, upgrades, monitoring, and management of these technologies as a managed service. Along with managing the entire deployment and operations lifecycle of these platforms and supporting technologies, you will also handle their integration with on-premise and cloud services. Work is primarily remote however some on-site work and travel may be required at various locations (~20%). This opportunity is contingent upon contract award This role will include, but is not limited to tasks like the following: Create, implement, and manage Platform deployments Set up and maintain AWS environments. Provide expertise for operational management of monitoring, platform management, disaster recovery, security compliance/auditing, networking, storage, service brokers and buildpacks Manage virtualized Linux (Ubuntu and Amazon Linux) and Windows (2013 and above) systems Develop and deliver configuration and deployment automation required for continuously improving the functionality, availability, and manageability of platform and associated services. Set up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation and troubleshooting Uses scripting tools to automate processes Works closely with developers in troubleshooting issues. Required Skills: Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security clearance Subject Matter Expertise in AWS and System Administration of Linux/Unix Operating System Experience developing automation solutions with competence in scripting languages for automating frequently executed activities. Linux/Unix and Windows Administration experience Experience solving problems at the Linux/Unix command line Experience with Kubernetes Experience in an Agile/DevOps/DevSecOps environment Experience troubleshooting Operating Systems and Applications Strong experience working as part of a team collaborating on problem resolution. 8+ years of experience in related fields or technologies to this job description Desired Skills: Experience with the installation and maintenance of VMWare Tanzu and/or RedHat OpenShift Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IAC) tools (eg Chef, Puppet, Ansible) Working knowledge of networking concepts and experience with relevant technologies such as Load Balancers/DNS/SSL/Firewalls/NAT/NTP DoD 8570.01 IAT Level 2 (or higher) - Level 2 requires one or more of the following Professional Certifications: CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP Experience working with various RDBMS such as Amazon RDS, MySQL and Postgres Required Education: Typically, a University degree - Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field (preferred).
