Duties

As a SUPERVISORY ARCHIVIST, you will:

- Negotiate with key officials from Federal agency headquarters offices concerning the processing service results and declassification review decisions for both ANDC concerns and special review projects.
- Make written and/or oral presentations to working level officers of the declassification, archival, and records management communities.
- Be responsible for the interpretation and implementation of all laws, statutory guidelines, and NARA procedures and regulations in the processing of these materials.
- Maintain familiarity with other government agency onsite declassification review programs.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.   • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
  • Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
  • Designated and/or Random Drug Testing may be required.

  • Qualifications

    You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

    Specialized Experience for the GS-13: You must have one year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent in other public or private sector, that is directly related to the position as listed above and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

    -Analyzing and evaluating collections that involves all facets of archival work and technical processing; AND
    -Collaborates with subordinates and peers in the development of new methods for tackling complicated technical processing issues; AND
    -Interprets or ensures compliance with laws, guidelines, procedures, and/or regulations in the processing of archival records


    In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.

    Education

    Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

    Basic requirements for all grades:

    Bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government.
    OR
    Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
