Duties

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary, Office of Acquisition and Property Management, Indian Arts and Crafts Board, Washington, DC

At the full performance level (GS-11) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Receives, tracks and processes complaints of possible Act violations filed pursuant to the statute and implementing regulations of 25 CFR Part 309. Participates in the development of cases by reviewing, analyzing and researching the complaint and examining evidence compiled and submitted with the complaint.

2. Requests additional evidence and related information from various sources; when appropriate may travel to interview the complainant and/or gather additional evidence; reviews and analyzes industry reports, relevant financial reports, and opinions related to the Act; analyzes and evaluates information and prepares a variety of documents for use in cases.

3. Provides pre-publication and editorial support for Board publications, such as typing texts and proofreading typeset texts, captions, etc., for accuracy and conformity to the requirements and standards of the Indian Arts and Crafts Board and the Government Printing Office.

4. Responsible for editing and creating content for the IACB website and managing/overseeing the IACB social media platforms.

5. Provides information and advice on the Act, marketing, and general intellectual property rights protections, informally through attendance of Indian arts and crafts marketing events nationwide, and formally through presentations at national, regional, Tribal and State sponsored consumer protection seminars, industry conventions, and related venues.

6. Responsible for the Source Directory of American Indian and Alaska Native Owned and Operated Arts and Crafts Businesses ( Source Directory ) publication. This includes promotion of the program to Indian artists, businesses, Tribes, the Indian arts and crafts industry, and consumers nationwide.

OS has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

Salary Information
GS-09: $60,129 - $78,167 per annum. GS-11 $72,750 - $94,581 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the Educational Requirements, Specialized Experience OR Combination described below, for the grade to which you are applying.

GS-09

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., related to the position.

OR

Specialized Experience

To qualify for the GS-09, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) participating in the development and implementation of programs involving and in support of consumer protection issues; 2) researching and analyzing information and documentation used in case development; 3) providing information presentations to a range of audiences; 4) providing written and oral responses to requests for information; 5) managing website content and social media platforms; and 6) providing editorial and production support for publications. Combination of Education and Experience: A qualifying combination of post baccalaureate education and specialized experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

GS-11

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., related to the position.

OR

Specialized Experience

To qualify for the GS-11, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service.
