* Videos Videos * Duties Help Duties Summary This position is located in the Historic Preservation Training Center division of Workforce and Inclusion. The primary purpose of this position is to perform building/and or utility maintenance and operation duties. TERM positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service and will be for a period not to exceed thirteen months, with possible extensions up to a total of four years without further competition Learn more about this agency Responsibilities The major duties of the Maintenance Worker position include, but are not limited to, the following: * Performs repairs to buildings and quarters. * Constructs, installs, repairs, and replaces items such as doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware, frame structures, windows, trim and cabinets. * Applies premixed paints or stains to masonry, gypsum board or wood surfaces using brushes or rollers. * Paints various types of structures such as interior and external metal, wood and masonry surfaces. * Patches and repairs roofs consisting of built up tar and paper, metal as well as foam roofs and asphalt shingles. * Performs masonry work of limited difficulty involving the maintenance, repair, construction of historic sites. Travel Required 75% or less - You may be expected to travel for this position. Supervisory status No Promotion Potential None * Job family (Series) 4749 Maintenance Mechanic * Requirements Help Requirements Conditions of Employment * US Citizenship required. * Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. * Males must meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement. * Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. * You may be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. * You will be required to complete a one-year trial period. * You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: * Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision(SCREEN OUT) * Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. * Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) * Use of Measuring Instruments * Ability to Interpret instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprinting reading) * Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment * Knowledge of Materials If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
