Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) is a nationally recognized, community-based, multicultural and multilingual youth development center, with the mission of empowering a diverse population of youth to achieve a successful transition to adulthood through multicultural, comprehensive, and innovative programs that address youths' social, academic, and career needs. Each year, LAYC works with approximately 5,000 children, teens, and families through a network of youth centers, housing programs, school-based sites, and public charter schools that offer a comprehensive set of high quality, culturally sensitive programs.POSITION SUMMARYThe Manager, Digital Marketing & Communications will lead an ambitious, high level effort to advance Latin American Youth Center's (LAYC) mission by disseminating our work and message to a wide variety of stakeholders by enhancing digital channels and platforms (social media, websites, and e-communications).The position combines strategic and tactical expertise in developing and leading digital marketing and communications initiatives and campaigns for fundraising initiatives. A successful candidate will strengthen LAYC's mission and impact in the field by helping us find new and creative ways to tell our story. This individual will possess a strategic thinking, problem-solving mentality, strong digital online community, and campaign organizing abilities with technical knowledge. This person will report to the President and CEO. The Manager, Digital Marketing & Communication should have prior experience in formulating and implementing organizational strategies in communications. They need to represent the organization before various types of audiences to continue to advance and increase awareness of LAYC's work, cultivate organizational/program partners, and garner financial support. LAYC/MMYC is a culturally competent organization that prioritizesrecruiting and supporting staff who have shared life experiences with our youth.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintains, expands, and coordinates Latin American Youth Center's presence on social media and websites (, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.);Develops a cohesive communications strategy, implements, and adjusts strategy using benchmarks, metrics, and other measurements to meet goals.Develops and implements an ongoing LAYC digital marketing and communications strategy and all materials, including brochures, invitations, annual reports, event programs, business cards, letterhead, newsletter, etc.;Plans and manages external communication and public relations efforts, including, but not limited to publicity for events, program launches, breaking news, etc.;Leverage social media tools daily and weekly, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter and provides information on LAYC's website;Assists in the dissemination of communications that support LAYC's fundraising efforts.Work in collaboration with development, evaluation, programs, and grantsteam to write, edit and develop compelling content, including internal newsletters, all-staff emails, and internal announcements, with vivid storytelling and thoughtful framing that educates, informs, connects with, and inspires team members.Ensures internal and external communications are in-line with the organization's brand and consistent in style, quality, and tone.Manages multiple projects and competing priorities with an organized project management-based approach;Builds relationships with media partners through proactive outreach. Develop pitches for President & CEO.Provides content strategy and messaging, ensuring LAYC youth are at the forefront.Supports development in the implementation of fundraising marketing strategy for LAYC;Works with LAYC departments to develop digital marketing strategies as needed for products, partnership announcements, initiatives, and marketing campaigns;Uses available web/social tracking systems (Google Analytics, or others like Sprout Social, Trackmaven, Meltwater) to compile online engagement reports, monitor activity/success of campaigns, and share findings with senior team/directors to better refine messaging and engagement strategies;Acts as key team member in the execution of the annual gala - the organization's signature special event. This individual assists with the development of and design of all marketing materials (program, invitations, event programs, etc.);Serves as the point of contact for media and assists LAYC leadership and staff with effective media relations and communications;Completes other duties as assigned.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:A bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of progressive experience in digital marketing, content management, and storytelling.Experience engaging and growing consumer interest via digital channels. Expertise in web optimization and web analytics, marketing, communications, web designs, and creating a multi-channel user.Knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), WordPress CMS, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, Constant Contact, and Google Apps.Experience with paid digital media a plus, including promoting YouTube videos, Facebook ads, and boosts, and sponsored Tweets to drive key outcomes and goals.Familiarity with social monitoring and reporting platforms.Experience in youth development or working with multicultural populations is preferred.Familiarity with youth development programs and practices preferred.Spanish fluency is welcomed but not required.Video and photo editing is a plus.Ability to quickly understand and absorb new topics, issues and disciplines, and distill relevant advocacy and communications strategies from them.Experience writing and editing articles, developing website content, creating reports, developing press releases, writing blogs, and managing social media.Basic understanding of stakeholder mapping and audience identification.Ability to deliver oral presentations to diverse, global audiences.Excellent communication and project management skills; team player and facilitator.Flexibility to work occasional evenings, and weekends, to support LAYC activities and events.Flexible, energetic, positive individual with commitment to youth development in a high quality, respectful environment.Ability to work well and communicate with culturally diverse populations.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 10 lbs.
